problem with graphic card and vga i think

November 26, 2011 at 12:02:19
Specs: Windows XP (SP3)
i have installed SP3 and installed the drivers from my CD (from motherboard) cause my pc was crashed in the past (its a medion but is kinda same as a DELL). but when i want to play a game or anything it never works cause there is a problem with my graphic card. i guess its also a problem with my drivers... even a simple game doesnt work and idk how to fix it. i got here some pics from my iside pc, the CD, and what i see on my screen.

* inside pc
(on that one you just saw you see also cables that arent wired, if you see something suspicious, tell me! cause i let it fix by some1 and idk what he all did)

*the CD (from motherboard)
(if i need to uninstall drivers and reinstall it, then plz also tell me how to do)

*info that i got on my screen

PS... if you also can tell me about what settings i need to have in BIOS with PCI or onboard VGA or PnP/PCI configuartion then that is also always welcome.

thx a lot, to me its a whole mistery but for some ppl as you maybe not.
hope on a response.

i edited it now, i forgot to say something:
at this picture:
you see that i dont have any display or display adaptor in device manager... maybe that got also something to do with it and can be a hint how to solve this.

thx a lot

if you have a graphics card can you just state the make and model?

Here's a link to your motherboard specs (it's not a very good one):

We can't tell you which drivers you need for the graphics card unless you tell us the make/model. The card can be seen in the pics - the model info is probably on one of the white labels on the card. XP loaded generic drivers that give basic functionality, but you can't play games with them. You need the real drivers. It's likely your card is either an AMD/ATI or NVIDIA, so once you determine the model number, you can download the drivers from one of these sites:

OK. From the looks of things you have a variation of a gigabyte GA946gmx series motherboard which comes with onboard graphics however you appear to have a PCIe graphics card in the machine. That being the case, tour gigabyte driver disk will only contain drivers for the onboard graphics not for the inserted card.

You need to identify the graphics card and download & install the appropriate drivers for that card and your operating system. None of the images you have supplied so far show the graphics card in enough detail for us to help you identify it.

hi there, i took some pics from what a downloaded software says what i got. maybe this helps.

i also went looking in my pc today and saw only this written on it:
article nr: 20024178
MS - 8979B0410499624
more i didnt found written on my card

this i found on iternet about my motherboard:
PCI Express Interface for dual graphics
Revolutionary PCI Express interface provides scalable bandwidth for multi-purpose usage. PCI-E x16 interface plus PCI-Ex4 slot support dual graphics and delivers the utmost graphics experience; PCI-E x1interface delivers twice the bandwidth of PCI interface up to 250MB/s for new generation I/O peripheral devices.

so it means i got a PCI-Express board and not AGP, thats good but how to find out more about my graphic card hmm, i dont find more on it except those nrs i sended.

on my pc is also a label of NVIDIA but what one i got specific idk.when i do on that website:
scan my pc and surch for drivers it doesnt find anything...

hope this is some help

im now a bit further im googling pics NVIDIA and i know i got a GeForce but what one i dont know yet... i try to find it out hehe

here i made some pics from my graphic card, idk what type it is, i cant find it anywhere but i guess something in GeForce 5000 and a bit...
(on this picture above, you see there is a cable going from graphic card to s-video, scart and composite but there is another cable like you can see that is not wired... does it need to be wired on something??)

i told you before they dont show display or display adaptor in my device manager and you can see that VGA got a problem with the driver but my screen is wired on the vga and my screen works so... hehe weird i think.

hope this was some good more info

The model number is in plain view on the back edge of the card - Gefore 6610 XL. It's not a card I ever heard of before, but it IS listed at the nvidia site. Here's the latest available driver for it:

yea thats what i said in message nr 7 :-)

i got one other problem (see link)

translation of the message of the upper window:
- shut the other energy cable on the graphic card to solve the problem. This connection is needed and can damage your system when it isnt installed. Look in the manual of the manufactory if you want to know how to check your connection. Your energy cable of the pc also needs to have enough power to deliver enough energy to all other parts of your pc.

in the other window it says:
- Warning, NVIDIA says your graphic card gets to less power
We lowered the prestations of the GPU so we prevent that your hardware get damaged or that your system get stuck or crashed.

so what should i do?
i showed in the pics before also that there was a cable still not wired (message nr 5) is that a powercable?
