OS: Window XP
CPU/Ram: Athlon XP2000+ / PC 133

Hello,

I just bought a new motherboard and CPU and tried install Window XP. Anyway, it seems to have a serious problem.

Here is the spec of my system

ECS K7S5A Pro
Athlon XP2000+
ATI Redeon 7500 DDR 64MB
RAM PC133 256 MB
Harddisk Western Digital 30GB
Power Supply 300W

Here is the story. After I put everything together, I install window XP then it everything works great. System runs smoothly and I can install motherboard drivers and other software without any problem. However, I figure out that the system detects CPU as Athlon 1.2GHz. So I come back to BIOS set up and change CPU/RAM speed from 100/100 to 133/133. Now when the computer starts up, it can recognize CPU as Athlon XP2000+. Anyway, when the Window XP starts up, the computer keeps rebooting itself. Some times, window XP can start up successfully, but when I try to install motherboard driver, it always fails. Never success to install motherboard driver when run at 133/133.

Here is the conclusion, it works fine if I run it at CPU/RAM speed 100/100. But if I run it at 133/133, everything mess up and never works.

Please let me know your comment and advice.

Thanks.

PS: I check CPU temperature already. No problem with overheat.

I built a comp with one of these motherboards
and found it was fussy about the memory sticks used in it.With some sticks I got hangs ,reboots and graphics corruption. With one stick of Corsair DDR it didn't even post.So I ended up getting memory verified for that board from the Crucial website using their system selector Kingston offer a similar service.

the k7s5a is noted for not working well with sdram, and running at 100fsb often fixes it. Eddie's link has details.
