When I'm playing games my computer with freeze. the screen goes white and it sounds like a broken record it keeps repeating until the computer restarts itself. I've tried reformatting/reinstalling dx8.1 new drivers for nvidia 128mb 4200 and still nothing helps. It does it on all of my games. I took my card back to the dealer and they tested it and it worked fine on theirs. Anyone have any suggestions?

If the card worked ok on other machines, then the problem is clearly with your own setup. When u install the new nVidia drivers, have u made sure u have uninstalled all traces of the previous drivers? If your video card is a GeForce4, it may be any one of a number of diferent varieties, and u might find that the nVidia drivers are not the best.. e.g. if u have an Abit card, have u tried drivers from the Abit (or other) site? Do the drivers that came with the card work? If so, keep them....if it ain't broke, and u can't improve it, don't fix it! Finally, some games just don't work with XP....things like star Wars pod racer can be a real bugger! (Anyone that has that working with Win2k?...I'll be a friend for life!)
