Hey, I have a bit of a problem with my new comp. Just ordered a gaming PC, and with one exception, it works like a dream. But that exception is (I think) a problem with my cd drive. On games that seem to require a disk, they seem to take a long time loading into the game.

I've only had the chance to test this with Doom 3 and Call of Duty. They both take 3-5 minutes to load the game to the main menu. The reason I belive this is a CD problem is because Unreal Tournament 2004 is uneffected, and with its new patch, it has a built-in 'no cd-crack.' Can anyone tell me what may be wrong here?

Well, CD drives are VERY slow. There are programs that let you load the CDs on to a hard drive and emulate CDs. They work great, `when they work'. Sometimes they can't get by the copy protection. Paragon CD Emulator is one that works pretty well.

I'm haveing the exact same problem with call of duty. I think it is the cd drive because i just got a new one and its doing that. I open up call of duty and it just shows the splash screen for like 5 minutes and then finally gets to the main menu. And when i try multiplayer(which doesn't require a cd) it loads up right away. plus i got a new cd drive because the one i had before didnt work either. This is really frustrating, does anyone know why that would happen?
