a while ago I bought a 250 Gb Maxtor hard drive, and after partitioning it (using Partition Magic) it only shows up as 127Gb. Any suggestions on what is wrong or how to fix it ?

do you have a raid/IDE controller card installed and the hard drive runnning off of it. Motherboards do not recongize more than 137GB of space unless you have a controller card.

You cannot access the full capacity of a hard drive greater than 120/137gig unless you have a controller that supports 48-bit LBA. Check for a BIOS upgrade for your motherboard that supports 48-bit LBA (they may or may not have a BIOS upgrade with 48-bit LBA support) or buy a separate 48-bit LBA controller.
