Problem transferring files to new Netbook

January 9, 2010 at 14:04:57
Specs: Windows XP, 2G
I was just about to transfer files from old compaq presario V2000 laptop onto my new Toshiba netbook with Windows 7 starter using the transfer files option with USB on a home network. All seems pretty simple to do, yet my old laptop's monitor stopped working! Laptop still works, but with black screen. So I am unable to see what I'm doing (obviously), and cannot continue with the transfer process. Am I completely out of luck? Anyone run into a similar issue, and still managed to transfer files? Any help is much appreciated!

Yes I have tried to restart the whole process. When I reboot my old laptop, it seems to be starting up just fine. Then the screen begins to flicker somewha (when it says windows XP starting up). Then when desktop appears, the whole screens turns black. The laptop is still on, but the screen is completely black.
