problem opening files

Specs: Windows XP
i feel really stupid coz ur all saying these things and i dont understand anything! but im having a similar problem, none of my files open; my computer, control panel, recycle bin, USB's, ext.hard drives, nothing opens! when i click on them all items on the screen disappear for a few second and re-appear again! i dont knw what to do!! plz help!

I am not sure we would help with this.

If you are brave you might consider reading up on how to do "repair" using the original XP cd.

If you have OEM DVD's or other "restore" disks you may have to use them. All of your data will be lost unless you use a live cd to transfer off the personal data to usb or network.

Might have to take it to a shop or find a neighbor that might know how to use a live cd to save your data. Then repair or restore.
