Comment: My father is trying to install a printer driver for a Hewlett Packard combo printer on his IBM laptop. After he downloads the driver from their Website he tries to run it. During the installation the window shows that it gets to about 9%, but thats as far as it gets. Even after 1-2 hours it doesn't make any more progress. He is using a cable modem to get to the Web. He is also running with an AV program and two firewalls. He doesn't seem to have problems downloading the file, only installing it on his laptop. Any ideas? Thank you...

Reply: (edit)Some HP printers have to be powered off when the drivers are installed.

Reply: (edit)I didn't have to do that with my HP Photosmart C6180 but I installed it as a network printer. I don't know if that makes a difference. I don't have any experience with Corinthian printers.

Reply: (edit)Everyone, thank you for the responses. My dad has tried turning off the printer and doing the installation again. It still didn't work. He said the installation prompts told him to do this also. I'm going to have him try and install it in Safe mode. He is starting to get frustrated with the situation. A big part of his problem is the person he takes his computer to when he has a problem...but that is another story. Thanks again. I appreciate it...
