1.when i burn DVD it burns sucessfully but when i want to see dvd it is showning this message WINDOWS CANNOT READ FROM THIS DISK.THE DISK MIGHT BE CORRUPTED,OR IT COULD BE USING A FORMAT THAT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS.I am using NERO 7 ESSENTIALS which is given with DVD-RW.
2.But when i play same DVD in other DVD-RW it plays but i couldnot play.
3.Is there any problem with DVD-RW or with IDE connections or any setting to be changed or any problem with DVDlens.please slove this problem.

You probably don't have any codecs to play DVD media installed on the host computer.

One other thing to note. You should be using an 80 wire IDE cable with a DVD burner. You can identify an 80 wire cable by the colored connectors on the cable. Black, grey and on the MBoard end blue, red, yellow, etc. 40 wire are usually all black.

What's the point of keeping the plain CD-ROM drive in your configuration? And the fact that you only have 256MB RAM isn't helping your cause.

What exactly are you burning to DVD?

Not sure what you are asking in response #3. You should use an 80 wire cable and the grey and black connectors go to the drives. The other end goes to the MBoard.

Codecs are required to decode the data on the DVD so you can view it. You must have a compatible codec for whatever type of DVD you are accessing. Install the program I linked to in #1.

Is the DVD drive properly identified by model number in the startup screens? If the jumpers are set wrong the drive will spin but won't read data.

Then that sounds like codec issues. What type of DVD disks are you burning? Are they DVDR or DVDRW?

I burn both, but DVDR disks r not reading but DVDRW disks r reading. DVDR disks r 4.7 gb/16x & DVDRW disks r 4.7gb/1x-2x.I tried like this i burned data first on DVDRW and then copied it to DVDR but then only DVDRW has identified but DVDR didnot.

That sounds like your drive laser is getting tired, the lense is dirty or your drive doesn't like the media brand. I doubt it is the media though because you would probably be creating coasters then.

How many DVDs have you burned with that drive?

The CD lense cleaner will work for the DVD lense too. Coaster means a bad burn. The burning program will usually well you something went wrong. Did the DVDR disks you have burned with that drive ever work?

One other thing I just thought of. You haven't stated WHERE you are trying to play back the disks you think are good. If on a standalone player that player MUST be able to play the exact type of media and if a special format it must be able to play that format. Many standalone players will not play DVDRW at all and may only play DVD_R or +R but not both.

Try the lense cleaner. Also, how is the DVD drive listed in Device Manager?

Then it appears windows is properly recognising the drive.

What type of files are you burning to the DVDR disks? What codecs did you install?
