i had a problem with my old harddriverunning on me. couldnt do anything due to activex not being able to work due to security settings, all my icons and screensaver disappeared apart from the usual. i.e my computer my documents recycle bin and networks couldnt restore it or anything couldnt open any of the above apart from my computer. i could see all my files but couldnt open any.
i now have a new computer and was wondering if i could now access my files on my old hd by using it as an external hd. my old hd was drive c and my drive on this is drive c would that cause problems?

i had a problem with my old harddrive.which was running on windows me.when i turned my computer on. my desktop had totally changed i no longer had my normal set up. i just had the basic icons, of which the only 1 i could access due to "activex not working due to security settings" was my computer. in the drive c on my computer i could see all my files and folders but couldnt access anything. i tried sysem restore to no avail. so i spoke to a friend who said that windows had mucked up and that i would need to reformat my hd and loose all my files which i didnt want to do. i have now bought a new pc packard bell. and was wondering if without jepordising my warranty and opening the thing up and using my old drive as a slave. i could install it as an external drive to gain access to my old files. i am now on xp.but would i still have the same problems as before?
