Can anyone figure out why my HP Deskjet 890C will print only immediately after the printer power is turned on. If it stays on longer, it will only print if I turn the power button off, then on again. If a print job is pending, but won't print, I turn the printer off, then on again and it will complete thew printing job. It has an LPT1 cable connection (the machine has no USB port).

The type of parallel port setting in the BIOS may not be the one favored by the printer. There are usually 3 different choices of parallel port types in the BIOS. Check the manual for which should be used.

The problem started after I switched from Windows 98 to XP Pro; before that it worked fine. I reinstalled the new driver many times and even tried other drivers, but to no avail. I will try to find out which parallel port type in the BIOS is favored. Thanx for the suggestion.
