I just deployed 25 Dell Optiplex GX 260 to replace older Gateways. I have began having problems printing on 5 or 6 of these machines. I print to different HP model printers. 5P, 2100, and 2050 deskjet. When you print a document sometimes it will print wingdings in 2 or 3 lines and then continue to print normal for the rest of the document. You can then immediately print it again and it will print fine. I have tried several different drivers but it has not solved the problem. Also with the 2050, it will often print the top half of each page and leave the bottom half blank on each page of a multipage document. Have switched her printers and PC with others and they seem to work fine when not matched together. Its driving me crazy. Any ideas?

well there's your problem. you should have "installed" them. ;-)

something was left in the print buffer from a previous session. It could also be caused by non printing control sequences added to a document. Some scanners insert these when you use OCR to convert a document into text format. It's just the way they interpret what they see.

when the print job is finished, the buffer is clear so any further printing will be OK.

Now THAT sounds like a driver problem. Did you get the drivers off a disk or did you download the most recent copy from the OEM?
