My mother-in-law's HP 640 C Inkjet printer won't power up. She's tried checking connections, changing outlets, and even checked the breaker. Nothing. Is is just age or is there some other possible problem?

The users manual mentions a power adapter. If this is in use that could be the problem. Power surges from lightning, etc. usually affect the first component in the system.

Have you metered out the + and - connections all the way from the wallplug/lead/into the printer and also the printers internal fuse or fuses.
If these are ok, here in the UK we would then take the device to the local electronic (not PC) repair shop.
Generally they are able to provide an estimate asto cost of repairing and then you decise to proceed or scrap.
