My mate's got a usb printer which he wants to connect to a computer which doens't have usb ports. Are there any adaptors available to allow him to do this? I've seen adaptors the other way around, ie to allow a parallel printer to connect to a usb port, but not to connect a usb printer to a parallel port.

It's a pain in the bum. It's an old Win95 computer, which I have to upgrade to Win98 to get the printer to work anyway, but he's too tight to buy a new computer!
Not long ago I had to replace the battery on the mobo cos the stupid thing's so old!!

Hi,
Windows 95 c & D both had some basic USB support. You'll need Win 98 SE to get any decent USB support.
The printer could be USB 2 as well which might need an O/S above Win ME to work properly.
Not much hope really. I've seen post where users having been trying to go from LPT to USB, but never saw a decent or economic solution.
This might help though:-

If you have 98se you have usb 1.0 support. But the hardware has to have usb ports. From what I read it doesn't. Belkin makes add on cards for usb 1 and 2. Get the usb1 card.
Summary: I have an HP Deskjet printer that supports both USB and parallel connections. Are there any advantages in using one over the other, and which is best? Thanks ...
