Recently i reformatted my computer and now when i try to install my printer (canon imageclass MPC190) i get an error saying that the USB device has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognise it.
i try adding the driver for the printer but i cant continue because for it to complete i have to use the "add hardware" function and once thats completed i can continue with the installation. problem is when i run "add hardware" it doesn't find my device or even when i point it to where the driver is located and the usb malfunction message comes on.
i tried installing the printer on my other computer and it works fine. i can even install other usb devices on this pc but for some reason i can't install my printer. does anyone know why?

With some USB devices it is critical you install the drivers _before_ connecting the device. If this is the case here and you did it the wrong way and then tried to install it manually, the chances of cleaning things up now , meaning getting it working without re-installing Windows, are not good.
