Printer or port problem.

Specs: Windows XP, Q6600/2Gig Kingston
I needed to remove my Canon i560 and re-install my old Laserjet 4 printer, reasons irrelevent. Computer has an ASUS P5KC mobo, and hence, no parallel port. I got a LogiLink Parallel port PCI card which I've installed, and loaded the driver which came with it. The card has no indicators on it, just sits there looking inert. Connected printer, added printer to Windows set it as default. Typed a few lines of rubbish into a Notepad file and tried to print - nothing happened. Ran the self test on the printer, works fine. Went through the self-help malarky that Windows pops up, no good, nothing works. Suggestions to try?

The LaserJet should of been recognised when plugged in, maybe Windows has the Parallel Port on wrong IRQ etcetera ?

The parallel port does not seem to be there in Device Manager...
