I have a lexmark 3100 all-in-one printer. But it won't install properly, i have the correct drivers that came with it. I had it working on my last machine which had XP on.My computer detects it but wont install is properly. I get a msg at the end of tryin 2 install the printer 'printer driver was not installed, the specified print monitor is unknown'.......Wat the....

Disconnect the printer from the computer. Reboot and install the software according to instructions. reboot and then connect the printer while in windows. Be sure power is connected before the USB. All of this assumes the printer connects using USB cable.

yeah i tried unplugging printer, then installin using the software, but it needs the printer attached. So attached it then removed it, then restarted windows and plugged it back in but still no luck.
Looked at that website too, but didnt help.
ANyone else have any ideas.

Remove any instances of that printer under settings before attempting a reinstall.
