Printed text misaligns

Epson C60 prints text that is misaligned horizontally every few lines. Not equidistant, maybe 6th line then 10th then 20th.Halfway down letter text shifts left or right, then ok for a few rows. No consistent pattern. Have done all utilities checks and reinstalled software - does any one have any ideas or should I bin it?!

Look at the innards of the printer. Most printers have a rubber belt with cogs on the inner side. Examine the belt and mating surfaces for any defects. Your problem doesn't sound like a software problem but try printing a test page. This will remove any word processing formatting from the equation.

Check to see if the print head is moving smoothly on the shaft.A little oil on the shaft probably wouldn't hurt.
