PowerDVD Troubles

June 22, 2011 at 21:48:58
Specs: Vista Pro MCE, 2.6/2G
I have an HTPC (running windows vista with windows media center). I'm running an LG Blu Ray player. The player has been working great since I installed it 6 months ago.

I'm running PowerDVD 9 OEM (with the LG player). The only update it offers is PowerDVD 10.

I have a copy of True Grit on blu-ray from netflix. It won't play. I've tried downloading the free trial of PowerDVD 11. It won't play. I went and picked up a redbox blu ray of True Grit. It won't play with either player.

PowerDVD 9 doesn't show anything but a black screen and all of the controls. PowerDVD 11 keeps telling me that "Playback stopped because your graphics card is incompatible". It's never been before and just this weekend played a blu ray that came out about the same time (same level of copyright protection? I have no idea).

I've now downloaded Arcsoft Total Media 5. It's playing the audio, but the player freezes up. No video, no functions, just sound. If my graphics card is too old (GeForce 8500) did it get too old since Saturday night?

Can anyone help me out with this (ahem) mess?

Update your codec files, then try using Windows Media player.

Or download & install VLC player.
