i have a gateway laptop. it is a athlon dual core tl-50 1.6ghz and 2GB ram. how is that compared to a apple powerbook with 1.67ghz and 2GB ram? i am thinking of getting the powerbook.

If you're going to shell out the extra cash for the powerbook, why not get an Apple laptop with the Intel processor ? That way you can use bootcamp and do a dual boot with Windows in case there is software you want to use which is not compatible with the MAC.

Unless you want the mac software, I NEVER would recommend an Apple. IMHO every item with the official Apple stamp is WAY overpriced. You could easily find a faster Windows based Laptop for cheaper. You can run MAC OS X on PC's now anyway, although not 100% sure about how good hardware compatibility is.
