Hi,

I recently messed up my BIOS on my motherboard when trying to re-flash it. So instead of going through the trouble of hard flashing my BIOS back into shape, I bought a new motherboard.

After installing the motherboard, I've been having problems when powering up. When I press power, the CPU fan twitches for a sec then stops. However, after a few power-on/power-offs, the computer eventually starts working. In fact I'm using it right now lol. I'm using a 300W power supply at the moment, which I figure should be good for my new little ASUS board, but maybe I'm wrong? Could someone help me out?

Gord

The symtoms you describe do indicate that the psu is not starting correctly.

The 300W unit should be quite adequate for your system unless you have multiple drives and a high end graphics card. If you replace it, go for a 350W or better to allow future expansion.

Ok my personal opinion is to check your motherboard. I had that happen to me once and the solitionw was that I had the fan cable connected to the powersupply fan plug on the motherboard.

Check your board and make sure that the fan cable is connected to the right slot on the motherboard.

If a cpu fan cable is pluged into the wrong spot then it would account for the problem. This is my first guess if it does or doesnt work please let me know.

Good luck

good luck and try to get into trouble

I checked the fan, and it seems to be connected to the right slot.
