I have a computer that won't post after replacing the CPU fan. it has a duron 1 gig processor, 256 RAM, Gforce 200 video card on a gigabyte GA7ZX mainboard and Kt133 chipset. I replaced the CPU and RAM just in case there was some ESD damage. Then reseated the video. Nothing. The CPU fan is more powerful than the old one that quit working. The case has a 250 watt powersupply. All voltages and currents from the PS is good, even the power good signal on pin 8. I was wondering if the new CPU fan pulls too much power than the PS can handle and that's why it's not posting. The only option left is to change the mother board.

Is your fan connected where the old one was?
My Mother Board with Duron 1G tests if the
fan is working before allowing boot up.

Check that first.

yes it is. It's connected to the CPU fan connector. The old fan didn't work at all but the system booted up just fine.

250 watts is too small for any modern cpu
