Alright, I'm having a problem with a connection from my power supply to my motherboard.

I am using the current parts:
Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131564
Power Supply - http://www.xoxide.com/ultra-x-connect2-titanium.html

Problem - http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/5033/salmobo26am.jpg

The problem is that when the 8-pin is plugged into both plugs, absolutely NOTHING on the computer runs, but when I push the power button, I can hear a faint click, like power is trying to run through it. However when the 8-pin is NOT plugged into one side or removed completely, the computer LOOKS like it is running, except the monitor will not turn on.

Currently, the other things I'm attempting to run on the computer are:
an nvidia geforce 7800GT video card
dvd burner
cd burner
floppy drive
network card
modem card
160gb SATA hard drive

The board is SLI-ready, but I'm not using SLI currently, so the 550 watts of power should be plenty enough to run the whole thing, but alas it does not seem to want to turn on when that 8-pin cord is plugged in.

The other wierd thing is that I had the computer running on and off for about 10 minutes with everything plugged into the proper places. I turned it off to poke around inside, and when I was finished, the thing wouldn't turn back on with that 8-pin plugged in. I am pretty sure I didn't change anything at all, so I have no idea what the problem is.

My current suspect is that the cord is dead, but any help on my problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, have you tried a different power supply? There's a reason Antec has a good reputation.
