Comment:

I have been running into tons of problems lately with my computers, athlon xp 1600, 192mb ram, 20gb hd, leadtek geforce 4 4400
i had trouble playing games because they would hang and freeze, i tried every possible way to fix it, but nothing worked, so i went out and bought a powmax 400w PSU, before this i had powmax 250w, so i just installed it and the computer started as usual, but then i ran into pproblems, when windows xp was loading , the screen would freeze, sometimes it would restart without any errors. I checked every connection, and they seeem fine, not sure where the problem is. It freezes only while loading windows xp so it doesnt even make it up to desktop, maybe i need to change a setting or two in bios. ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! Thankks in advance

i'm totally confused on your problem, but one thing you might want to try is to reinstall windows XP. Sometimes that will fix it and if its not your OS thats causing this then doing this won't do anything.

I would look beyond the power supply, could be anything, RAM, mobo, just too many possibilities. Try a format and re-install of XP. When you say "i tried every possible way to fix it", what exactly do you mean?

My guess would be a RAM problem...download & run memtest86 & see what kinda results you get.
