Hi, i have a coworker (currently without a computer ) thinks he has a power supply problem. he plug the power cord into the power supply and saw a bunch of sparks (as what he said) and dont know why but he tryed to start his computer after a few seconds the power led started blicking red and hes wondring what could be wrong and im wondring what other damage that there could be. he also said that he diddnt see any burnt marks on the mobo or anything else. i have not taken a look for myself. this just happened today and this was over a phone call. (btw he also told me he got the computer back in 07 and has no idea on how old it is ). so any help would be nice

If there were sparks, there's probably damage. He never should have tried to power on the system after seeing sparks. If he's lucky, just the power supply is fried. If he's unlucky, he fried the CPU, motherboard, RAM, etc. There's no way to diagnose thru a forum, you (or he) needs to troubleshoot.
