Hi

Over the last 2 months I have had 2 PSU's blow up ..both whilst playing games (world in conflict & call of duty4). The PSU's have both been 600w & I am running a dual core 2 x 1.86 with gigabyte 965p mobo & x1950xt graphics card. Is it coincidence they have both gon whilst playing these games or is the PSU just not up to job ?

what is the amperage of these PSUs? in the last two months two have gone bang? possibly unlucky but it could also be something going wrong, are these unbranded psus you are using or something of better quality, it could be that these games are putting maxium load on the psus and they just can not handle it. if you are using a cheap brand psu then i recommend using a much better quality one, such as thermaltake thermaltake toughpower 600watt upwards.

does your pc power up at all?

Whenever you buy a PSU you should never skimp on what your getting. A lot of people go and buy a cheap 600watt PSU without realizing that it is less powerful than a high quality 400W unit.

What were the brands of both these units and what was the AMPS rating on the 12V rail(s).

In addition to what has been said above, what is your mains supply like? "Dirty" mains with lots of spikes and surges can play havoc with a power supply, especially a cheapo one.

A few pennies invested in a good quality surge protector may help a lot.

Are you running a surge protector? You might also want to run a filter on that line.
