Model/Manufacturer: Intel pentium

Hi all!
I have a major confusion with all this geek talk on +12v rail,PSU and something...
My guess is PSU is our SMPS right? Well i was wondering what sorta power requirement would i need for my pc. This is my current config:

P4 3ghz em64t (2mb l2 cache)
Intel 915 motherboard
512mb ram
nvidia 6600 256mb graphics card
80GB+20Gb hard disks
n the usual 17" crt monitor n stuff...

My UPS rating says 600va, guess my PSU or SMPS rating is 400w, my question is that will my power supply be enough when i upgrade to nvidia 8600gt 256mb card and an additional 1 gb RAM?? Or do i have to change my smps too?
If i chang my smps dont i need to change my UPS thats only 600va i.e 600x0.625=375watts??
Please help!!

PSU (Power Supply Unit) & SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply) are the same thing.

"all this geek talk on +12v rail"

The "geek talk" is what's important. Get the amperage right & the wattage will take care of itself. Here's a decent explanation:
