Power on delay on my computer

Specs: Windows 7
Hello everyone,

I am new at this forum

I have a problem on my computer

when i press the "Power button" it has a delay of around 10 seconds to get to the bios screen

i can see the board led yellow and the fans are spinning fine in this time

however no signal to screen is passed only after about 10 seconds

i have had this situation since many months but i did not pay attention because someone told me it is a normal in my board due to some hardware checking etc

I have gigabyte x58a-ud3r mother board rev 1.0

but i don't think this is normal

what is the failure unit here? btw some day i heard a strange sound coming from my PSU

a sound like electricity zz zzz zz

now i don't hear that sound often just rarely

is that a sign of PSU being fail?

also it does the same thing when i reboot the computer it stay black for seconds before i see the 3 keyboard lights flashing, however when coming back from sleep state it does not have a delay.

i have googled my case it seems to have a different reasons for example the CMOS battery is dying.

Please help me.

My guess is you need a new PSU -- a flat CMOS battery wouldn't cause a power-up delay. When changing the PSU, use the opportunity to fit one that's more powerful than the old one (ie higher wattage output). It won't harm anything but it will mean the PSU has more power in reserve & therefore won't be working "flat out" all the time.

Hello Sir,

Thank you for your time and reply

Please advice me what is a good PSU?

my system specifications

Gigabyte x58a-ud3r REV 1.0
4 GB Ram OCZ Gold
Gigabyte HD Radeon 5850 1 GB
Zalman quite cooler
Intel Core i7 920 Bloomfield
1 TB Storage WD Caviar Black
SSD Samsung 128GB 830 Series
Current PSU : Superb 720 - Gigabyte
This one exactly

Is enough for my PC? because i read it gives average power of 610W.
