Comment: One of my hard drives has gone down big time. Theres no power. checked all leads. checked everything and It seems that the power is dead. Does anybody know how to get all my data back? Could i open up the hard drive case, take out the disc's and put them into a working drive? Would that work. Anybody? Thanks

Reply: (edit)Hell no, whatever you do don't open up the hard drive. That would put end any chance of recovering your data. If the hard drive has actually failed and it can't be powered anymore the only way to get the stuff is to take it to a data recovery professional.

Reply: (edit)xsu, You said that the power is dead. From your description I'm wondering if you are only talking about the power from the 4-wire plug. If that's what you mean it sounds more like your not getting power from the power supply. Please restate your test findings.

Reply: (edit)If there is any important data on the drive then try www.computer-recovery.com they can recover data from any type of hardware failure. But dont open the drive.
