I have a Lite On DVD Burner that came with Nero 6 and Power DVD 6, my son got this Profile 4 by Gateway free and we bought a DVD burner that came with only Nero 7 not the full version, and I would like to know if I can install my Power DVD 6 on his new DVD Burner? I hate to purchase another one.

You install the burner program in the PC's hard drive and not 'on' the DVD drive. If you have the version 6 installed, just leave it alone and do not install the version 7.

If you have already installed the version 7, uninstall it and install the version 6.

If you're asking if you can have both Nero and PowerDVD installed the answer is yes. If you're asking if you can install a PowerDVD disk that's previously been used on another PC the answer is probably yes. Some of the burner software that came bundled with cd burners would only work with the model they came with but I haven't experienced that problem with PowerDVD. You'll probably need the product key which should be on the PowerDVD sleeve. And after installation some reminders may pop up suggesting you register but you won't want to do that.

If your Nero 6 has 'Nero Vision' and the limited Nero version 7 doesn't, I would install 6.

Simply put, yes you can install it on both computers but be aware that the EULA (end user license agreement) asks that it be only installed on one computer at any given time.

Since the new DVD burner is external and the powerDVD you have came with an internal it's possible you may need a newer version to work with it. I guess you won't know until you try.

I recently bought a powerDVD 8 disk for just a few dollars. If I can locate the web site I'll post it, in case you need a newer version.

I believe this was the place:

That's to powerdvd 7. At the bottom of that page is a link to their page for version 8 as well as Nero 8.1.

You're welcome. I had gotten powerDVD 8 and Nero 8 together and even with shipping the total was only about $14. I used them on an internal liteon 20X burner.
