Hi
i have just finished building my new pc. The motherboard is abit AV8 and the power supply is a tagan 480W. the power does not stay on for more than a second the onboard post comes up with a 3 very quick then 0.2 which stays on. i cannot see anything wrong only the 4 pin extra power cable im not so sure is right but i have no base for comparison does anyone know what it might be??
thanks

I think you could either have a short, or something else like something faulty.
1. Unplug everything (Hard Drive, Floppy, RAM, and anything else not integrated - video, sound, NIC, etc.), just try to get the motherboard to boot and give you some kind of error beep.
2. If you do get an error beep, just start putting stuff back in one by one.
3. Your power supply could be suspect, or your CPU fan could be not seated properly.
4. If all else fails, you could just try your motherboard plugged into the power supply "outside" the box to test that there are no shorts occuring within the case.
Not sure what else to say.

ok thanks ill give that a try. but i am still not sure about this pin connector something about it just does not seem to go right?

How could the square 4-pin connector not go right? Explain.
Make sure your HSF is connected to the proper header. Are you getting a code number displayed on the board's LED? (near the battery)

I am having the same problem. When I turn it on nothing happens other than the POST code flashes 3 briefly then 0.2. The manual says 0.2 is a power source problem, but I replaced my Antec 430 watt source and the problem persists. Does anyone have a solution? Here is my system:
