I bought this hp not long ago, and the power jack/adaptor has always been a problem. The battery for some reason, even when fully charged, only lasts about 10 minutes, so it needs AC power. At first, every once in a while, it would say it was running on battery when it was plugged into AC power (and then would shut down 10 minutes later when the battery ran out). Now, it will only run on AC power if I'm actually holding the adaptor/jack into the back of the computer, which makes it VERY hard to type. As soon as I move my hand, it starts running of batteries, and the battery power sucks!

Is there anything I can do? Or should I just buy a new computer? its driving me nuts!

Your description sounds like a contact problem in the power connector. Otherwise, just pushing it in with your hand wouldn't make it work if the AC power supply wasn't working. Could be either side, the plug or the socket it connects to in the computer. You should take a very close look at the connection. With the power supply unplugged (not connected to the AC wall outlet) and the laptop shutdown, put things under some very good lighting and maybe even find a magnifying glass and take a close look at the connection as you push it in and take it out. Maybe you can determine why it's not connecting. Sometimes, just slightly bending (warping) the plug prongs will fix a problem like this.
