Post hangs at the Memory Check

Ibm clone / Desk top

Specs: Windows XP, Pentium 4/2 gig ram
My computer worked fine last night but when I turned it on this morning it would not boot. The POST hung at the mem check. I've removed and reinstalled my ram strips and checked for any loose connections and find nothing amiss. I've tried booting with my XP disk but since I can't get past the post that doesn't work.

Try pulling the RAM out, then boot it; if it beeps, check beep codes for your MOBO. If you get proper "missing RAM" beep codes, clean out RAM slots with compressed air, inspect slots and RAM modules contacts very closely for damage or cracking.

Assuming you have 2 (or more) RAM modules, put one RAM module back in and test boot again. Then try the other RAM module, and test boot again. You may have to test boot with RAM modules in various slots.

Just another stupid saying...
