I got the same problem as Tech_Dude does... for my COMPAQ EVO D510. I replace new battery. After POST 162 (... possible battery is bad, replace battery...), it display:
...the following configuration is update....
F1: save change, F10:run setup
CMOS checksum invalid, default value loadedThen it HANG...
I try F1, F10 it does nothing.PLEASE HELP

If you got error 162 and not error 161,
there was nothing wrong with your battery - see response 3 and 4 in this:
http://www.computing.net/hardware/w...

Make sure you put the battery in the right way so that it's polarity is correct - usually + is up. If it is backwards the bios will "think" the battery is dead (you will get error 161.
If you changed any hardware just before this happened, such as ram or a card, remove the power to your computer case and remove the hardware.
When the computer encounters an error it may seem the computer is doing nothing, but it may take a long time for the bios to display further messages - as long as 5 minutes.
You may need to repeatedly press the key that gets you into the bios Setup while booting (don't hold it down) - even then there may be a long delay before it actually goes there.
Once you can get into the bios, you must enter at least a date in the bios other than the default (it might as well be the current date)and save settings. You can correct the time either in the bios or in Windows.
