OK, so i built my own system, and I've been having some problems with it. For a while, it wouldn't boot up past the point where everyhitng gets power (i.e. the fans would spin, the drives would do their thing but the monitor was still in sleep mode) and then out of nowehere it did. Then it was off and on for a while after I finally got Windows XP installed on it, and then for about 2 weeks..nothing. Today I decided to try and switch the DIMM slots that the ram was in. This got me something on the monitor...bad news. I get a bootblock due to a BIOS ram checksum error. Now I know mor eor less what I need to do for that, but here's the problem: It tells me it's serching the floppy dirve ofr contents and it won't go past there, the cursor just blinks forever. Better yuet, it does this even when the floppy dirve isn't even connected to the computer. I figure my only option is to send the BIOS chip back to it's manufacturer (SOYO, I have the new Dragon 2 Platinum Edition) but I'm not so sure this will solve my problem. If anyone could shed some light on this disaster, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

Go to SOYO's website. D/L the correct BIOS. Create the BIOS flash on another computer and save it to a floppy. Put hte floppy into the Floppy drive of the problem computer and then fire it off. See what happens. Should automatically flash the BIOS for you as soon as the computer sees the new flash sitting in your 3.5 floppy. Good luck.

First of all, thank you. I tried that, but as I suspected, the computer wouldn't move past that point. i tried putting in a boot disk, a bios disk (two different versions of the BIOS) and then a blank disk and it just did the same thing. It just says searching floppy drive for contents..." and a blinking cursor. It'll do it forver if I let it. I guess the only thing left is to send the BIOS chip to SOYO?
