Anybody out there know of any portable (keychain) USB flash drives that DON'T require installation of a driver to use it on a computer with XP? My Lexar Jumpdrive came with a driver installation disc and works fine on my computer after the driver is installed, but I can't install one in the library's network and it won't work without it.

I have 2 flash drives, a portable hard drive and an MP3 player that all work on my schools computers without a driver ussualy you dont need a driver.. I suppose if you go buy a generic flash drive it should run fine. Just look for a flash drive that dosent come with any software to be sure it will work with the standard XP drivers.

I have 4 or 5 USB 2.0 HDDs, a card reader, a digital camera, a scanner, and two USB 2.0 keys that have yet to REQUIRE a driver installation to work with Windows XP Home Edition, Media Edition, or Pro. The only exception was when the MOBO drivers on one computer got corrupted and I didn't have USB 2.0 until this was corrected.

Windows XP should recognize most USB drives without the need to install drivers. On the other hand, Win 98 will require drivers, and the software included with USB drives normally contains them. Maybe your Lexar Jump Drive is an exception when it comes to Win XP installation.
