Trying to smarten up a very old Toshiba T1950CT for my son for xmas. Can anyone tell me what a port replicator is please? Would it be insane to buy a pcmcia to usb card for this model? I am trying to get a cd rom drive and printer going for it pretty quick but a little ignorant of the jargon. Can I buy extra hard drive for this laptop too? I know it would have to be extrenal. Thanks for any help...much appreciated.

It would be better off getting a brand new desktop with the devices u desire.Add on devices are about one third to one half more expensive then regular desktop devices.

And with the current model u have, most new modern cd-rom drives and printers will not support that under powered system(meaning, the maker of the devices can not and will not help you when the device will not work).

Sorry to tell you but you really really need to upgrade to something much better. That laptop compared to a current system is like a horse drawn buggy compared to the space shuttle.

I am a disabled struggling parent and this laptop is for my son for xmas..it was all I could afford (£40). Without getting out a begging bowl what else could I do. He so wanted a laptop having just started secondary school and he suffers with ADHD.Does no one out there struggle with a slowbie like this one?
