Try to get into the bios and see if the hard drive is recognized there. It could be a bad hard drive.

I agree withg KX above, however you need to boot from another device in order to continue on from this.

Have you checked if there is an answer here:-

Would have thought you should a have a recovery cd/dvd for your Acer, if it has a cd/dvd drive

Check the bios, to see if it provides a boot order option. You should *NOT* have the hard disc as first in the queue.

Please advise back on progress.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Hi i am having the same problem, same model of laptop ect. Except when I enter bios I cannot change the boot order, in fact I cannot change anything in bios except for changing admin password and date and time.

I am thinking I need to reset the bios by removing the cmos battery but I would like to see if there might be another solution before I take this laptop apart.

By the way everytime windows 7 tries to load I get a startuo repair and everytime windows cannot find the problem to fix. I will reformat if I could change the freaking boot sequence!

Start your own post.
You can do a full factory restore by accessing your recovery console that should be included already on a separate partition on your hard drive (see your online manual for key or combination of keys to access this recovery console). If your hard drive is being completely replaced then you should be able to boot to the CD/DVD drive since the hard drive does not have a boot sector on it yet if it is the second or third in the boot order..

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
