Please help me or I will lose 7 years worth of irreplacable data! It would take me too long to explain how this happened, but what I need to do is access some folders from my second harddrive. When I try to do so from the My Computer section a message popups up asking me to format the second harddrive first. I cannot format that drive because I need the files from it. Is there some way or some program that will allow me to access those files from the other harddrive? *hopes and prays there is a way* Please help :(

Here are some file recovery programs:
PC Inspector

The demo is limited
It will only recover'up to' four folders per run
But you can make multiple runsOntrack's 'Easy Recovery'

Thanks a lot I am trying the ZAR now man these programs take forever to run though is there a faster way? I only need to copy two folders and I remember years ago when I tried this I simply plugged in my HD and was able to view all of the folders with no problems. Is it because I setup a partition that I cannot just plug up the second HD and view files? If that is the case I may just reinstall windows without multiple partitions so I can access the other HD again.

Thanks the ZAR is displaying the files from the second directory so it is working however it is taking a very long time. Could anyone please answer this one question. If I were to install Windows on the whole HD like I have done in the past without creating multiple partitions, when Windows is installed could I just plug in my second HD and easily access the files from the My Computer section? I had done that years ago but not sure if that still works. I "assume" that because I setup multiple partitions, that it prompts me to format second HD instead of just reading it.

Crap I have been working on this nonstop are there any other free ones? ZAR is the only one that works but it takes too long and the free limitation prevents me from getting all of the files.

With your problem normaly TESTDISK will fix it, if it works then XP will see the drive.
It is on the Linux Knoppix live cd or download it at

You can download the DOS or XP version, read the How-TO use.

Thanks but I have already purchased ZAR and it works perfectly and differently than the other recovery programs I tried.
