please cd rom drive

in device manager there is a yellow mark on my cd-rom drive.which is HL-DT-ST CDRW GCE 4841B. when i right click the drive with yellow mark click properties click the driver tab then driver detail and thease are the files in there cdrom.sys,imapi.sys,redbook.sys and storprop.dll
The device is not list when i click my computer where all the drivers are listed Drive a: and c:
but no D; So when when a put in a Cd like windows xp or a Cd that start on it own i get no response from the drive. Even if i go run a type d;\ nothing happens i think i need software/firmware to load it up
please help me with this thanks you

right click the device in Device Manager and choose to remove it from your system.
Then reboot and let windows pick it up again.

First remove the drive from device manager. Then boot to the BIOS and check to see if the CDrom is listed there on the first screen. If all that is listed is the word auto, look for the option to auto detect drives elsewhere on that same screen. This should bring up the drive model instead of the work auto. If this doesn't happen, save and exit BIOS and shut down. Check the jumpers on the drive for proper settings. You don't need any drivers or firmware for that drive.

Actually, you're having the same problem I was having. I thought my drivers were messed up too since that's what the error message leads you to believe. But I typed in "Code 39" in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and got the real solution. You only have to delete 2 entries from the registry. Here's the link:
