Hello,

My computer is misbehaving. When I try to watch a DVD or something in windows media player/real player the playback is very poor. The colours are patchy and the brightness & contrast are awful. And yet if i watch a trailer for a movie on a website the picture is perfect and the same for any games i play.

I've tried updating all my drivers etc but to no avail. Im not much of a computer person so i cant figure it out. Any ideas out there?

Download and try a different player and see if it does the same thing. At least this will tell youif it's the machine or WMP.

Go to Display Properties > Settings > Advanced, see if you can find some 'Overlay' adjustments. Try tweaking them. Overlay is used for most videos. The Overlay adjustment does not affect the windows display.
