Hi,
I have just finished building a new AMD Althon 64 computer system. So far, everything is fine, but the Pioneer DVR-110D burner is unable to load the program automatically when I insert a CD/DVD. So how can I make it to load the program automatically when I insert a CD/DVD? Is this a defect burner? Thank you so much for any help.

Load what program?
If you mean a program to burn cd's, you must install that - e.g. it is usually included with the new drive.
The drive will function as a CD reader or, probably, a DVD reader, without any special program, assuming it is connected correctly, and the drive is not dead - can you see it in Device Manager? If you mean a CD or DVD will not autostart, not all of them do - there has to be a file Autorun.inf on the CD or DVD in order to do that. If it has that file, it should start up automatically when the CD is inserted, or if you click on the drive in My Computer. If you have SP2, you will get a Window that asks you what you want to do with that CD or DVD first.
If you can't see that drive in Windows, did you load the drivers from the mboard CD for the mboard after setting up Windows? You must do that in any case. Sometimes CD/DVD drives will not be correctly recognized until you do that.

Thank you for your reply Tubesandwires. I knew that if a program on a CD/DVD doesn't have the autorun file, then it will not automatically load the program after you inserted the CD/DVD. For example, when I inserted Office 2003 or Encarta 2006 DVD, they didn't automatically run, but they are automatically run when I inserted them into a different computer. Right now, I don't have that computer with me because I built it for my niece and I have delivered to them already. I will check that again and let you know. However, I believe that it is recognized and listed in Device Manager. Any other idea? Thank you

I'm assuming you ran the Setup of Windows for the first time for the primary hard drive partition (usually C:) on the mboard on this computer.
If you had a hard drive that already had Windows installed on it that you are using as drive C, you may or may not have been able to start up the drive and have Windows detect the new mboard without having to run Setup (if the hardware is too different from the computer the hard drive was originally on, Windows won't start). If you did not have to run Setup, you should run a Repair install of Setup if it has Win XP or 2000 to have Windows fully recognize the capabilities of the mboard and the devices attached to it, or run Setup "overtop" if you installed Win 95/98/98SE/ME (run Setup and install it in the same location, without deleting the existing Windows installation beforehand, usually in C:\Windows). In both cases, you will not lose any data on the Windows installation, and Windows will make small changes to suit the motherboard and devices.
If you have Win 2000 or XP and you don't know how to do a Repair Setup, I can point you to directions.Did you load the drivers from the mboard CD for the mboard after setting up Windows? You must do that in any case. Sometimes CD/DVD drives will not be correctly recognized until you do that.
This is essential for Win 95/98/98SE/ME for it to work properly, because the mboard is much newer than the operating system.
For Win 2000, XP, they may find and install more support automatically, but they may not detect everything or install all that is needed to support the mboard, especially if it is newer than the operating system, and the devices connected to it.Once you do that the autorun feature should be on by default.
If it is still not on after doing that...
You didn't say what operating system you installed.
If you installed Win 95/98/98SE/ME
Device Manager - CDRom - double click name of CD drive (Properties)
Settings tab - click on the small box beside Auto Insert Notification to make a checkmark appear - OK - Close
You must re-boot to make the setting work.If you have XP installed
Start - Help And Support - search for: autorun cd

Sorry for not telling you what operating system that I installed. I partitioned the Maxtor 120GB IDE hard drive and installed Windows XP Pro on the drive C. I will probably come to my niece house on this weekend so that I can start to do some troubleshootings and I will let you know. Thank you very much for your help.

The most important software to install is that for the mboard itself - it's chipset, and whatever is built into it - the major stuff on the mboard CD.
XP probably won't find everything automatically that is needed by just running Setup.
If you installed the original Windows XP Pro, you must upgrade it to at least SP1 to support USB 2.0, and in order to recognize hard drives larger than 128gb (in Windows; 137gb manufacturer's size).
