I'm using winxp and my pioneer dvd-116r has worked fine until recently, for no apparent reason it won't read any cd or dvd.

I am presuming the access led comes on and you can here it rotating and trying to read.

FIrst have you tried cleaning it, as some dust may have got on the lens.

You can usually buy cheap cleaning kits at your local convenience store. A cd one will do the trick.

Good luck - keep us posted.

did you recently try to burn a high speed DVD, because they released a high speed DVD and it ruins all Pioneer DVD drives.
