Physical Memory

Specs: Windows Vista, Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz; 446 MB Ram.

Hi, my computer has been running slow for a while now, I don't think it's a virus, but more of a problem with mem. usage. Even when only Firefox / Skype is open, the physical memory is atleast 70%+. If needed, I could provide screenshots with more information. Is it my drivers that need updating? Or is it something else? I thought my computer was just getting old, but saw a lot of other people with this same issue, so any help would be appreciated. I have also closed "Windows Search" To stabilize the physical memory so it isn't going from 30 - 90%. Not sure if it works, but saw it as an idea to help fix, so I tried. Is my computer dying?

Your system doesn't have enough RAM for Vista. 1GB is the minimum recommended. 446MB will barely run XP decently.

Either add lots more RAM or dump Vista & go back to XP.

As mickliq said, you need more memory.
For Vista Home Premium the minimum RAM specification was 1 GB when it was released and since then modern browsers, anti-virus programs, and other software have raised memory usage. At 446 MB you are well below the specified minimum. I am actually surprised that your RAM usage is as low as it is.

Updating drivers will not help, it may actually make the problem worse.

Others are having the same problem for the same reasons.
