Comment:

My friend has a computer which upon each restart, shortcuts to photos appear on her desktop. They are deleted, but when she restarts again, they reappear. I have checked MSCONFIG for startup items, and have found nothing. Ran spybot, nothing. ran AGV, nothing.

Any other ideas?

OMG don't judge me!

are they the same picture shortcuts or different ones. If they are different ones then probably what happened is someone selected all photos in a folder and made shortcuts for the all on the desktop. The desktop can only display so many icons at once so once you delete some shortcuts and restart the shortcuts that you couldn't see now take up the space of the deleted ones. Go to C: drive then document and settings then pick username then open desktop folder and delete all picture shortcuts there.

Now if that's not the case then look under the start folder in the start/all programs and see if someone made a batch file.
