Hi,

I am new to the forum and would like to ask for suggestions on which photo printer is recommended. I realize people have different needs and preferences. I am really getting into printing photos, making tshirts, calendars, greeting cards, etc. I currently only have a HP Deskjet 672C which does a terrible job printing these things. The text printing is fine. I don't have a digital camera but plan to get one soon (any suggestions there?) I only want to spend about $300 for the printer and maybe $350 for the camera. Right now I just use a Visioneer One Touch 5600 Scanner for the photos. I don't know alot right now, but I want something that lets me do more once I learn because I really enjoy creating projects but get disappointed with the results. Does the monitor matter for quality image for printing or just viewing? As you can see, I am a novice at this.

I am doing research at PC World, but there are so many to choose from and they have their top 10 lists but some are rated low and the reviews are not that good! Confusing!

Can anyone help?

Gail

The choice of which printer is up to you. However, a couple of tips. Whichever make you choose then stick to the paper of the same make. I experimented with several different makes of paper and found that Canon paper gave the best results with my Canon printer.
Individual colour ( English spelling) cartridges is a must.
One other thing, photos printed on a photo jet printer are only good for a couple years with common photo paper.

In my opinion the best photo printers out there are HP and Epson. Like Eddie said it's pretty much your choice which one you wanna go with and your budget but for 300 I am sure you can get a really nice one.

Hi Gail.

Here is a terrific site that gives reviews of both printers and cameras.

Steve not only reviews the products but shows closeup photos of the products.
