Pentium III not booting-file error

All right now. I attempted to swap memory in my mother's Pentium 3, and discovered that the stick I was going to put in was damaged, burned out, whatever. No workie. So I took it out and put the old stick back in. Now I've got the computer recognizing the memory as it was fine and a new problem: system32\drivers\fastfat.sys has gone on vacation. It's corrupt or missing. Now, damned if I know why. It told me to repair the installation with the XP setup disc, so in it went...and it refuses to boot off of that! There's no "search for more boot devices" option, and all the boot devices are disabled save for the DVD-ROM drive. Any ideas? It's never fun when two people want one computer.

Oops...I'm so used to writing SP1. The Pentium III has Service Pack 2. At least for now. *evil grin*
And secondly, it is a full version disc.
