Pentium II vs. Pentium III

OS: Win 98
CPU/Ram: 400MHz/ 256MB RAM

I have a Dell, that currently has an old Pentium II 400MHz CPU, in it and it has 256 MB of RAM. If I upgraded that CPU to a 450MHz Pentium III would there be much of an improvement? Both processors run at 2.0 volts and have and L2 cache of 512KB.

If that is the only change you are going to make then no there would not be much difference but if it's not going to cost you anything then go ahead

The P3 added SSE instructions, so if none of your apps use SSE, then you won't see much difference at all.
