I'm looking at putting together a new system for myself. I am curious if there is any reason not put together a system that has PCI-e technology over a system that has AGP-8x. I've priced the components I want for both systems (newegg.com, love that place) and the prices are almost identetical. Any opinions?

If you're building a system right now, you should definitely build one with PCI-E. Development of AGP cards has stopped and PCI-E cards are the future since they're maybe 6 times faster. I read that somewhere but somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Plus, there's more choice of cards. So if the prices are almost identical, i'd say go for PCI-E.

Thanks for the advice Lizette. I was really surprised when I learned that the prices for both systems were so similar. The Mobo and the video card were slightly more expensive. But that was offset by the fact that the RAM was actually cheaper.
