i have the 2 connectors plugged into the card but somehow its not delivering any power.

Apparently you didn't benchtest your hardware before installing it in the case?

A common mistake made when putting together a new machine is putting motherboard mounting studs in a place where there isn't a hole in the motherboard. This can cause a short circuit.
Remove the motherboard and do a benchtest.

alright took it all apart.. did the benchtest like you specified (website)
i connect the power switch and my CPU-fan kicks in, however my GPU-fan stays as dead as a cow.

is my last option to just send the card back and ask for a new one?

Can you give more specs on the psu, such as amps on the +12v rail and so on ? It's possible that it's not sufficient to support the HD4870.

well i can tell you it is sufficient because it is
1) recommended by jam, no offense
2) in the qualified list on the ati/amd site
3) 41Amps on the 12V rail

so im going to return the d*mn thing then...

alright but i'm pretty sure its the card, its a pitty i dont have another system where i can test it on. so i'm hoping that it IS a failure of the graphics card, else i have to check the mobo or psu. eventhough everything seems fine with that.

thanks
